1941

The “Four Seasons” figures by Christian Petersen were added to the fountain in front of the Memorial Union.

The streets on campus were named, but street signs were not yet installed.

1943

Twelve stained glass windows, designed by Harold W. Cummings, class of 1918, were installed in Gold Star Hall in the Memorial Union.

1946

Pammel Court was established as a “temporary” housing facility for veterans and their families. The majority of residential housing in Pammel Court was demolished by 1997, more than 50 years later.

1947

Agriculture Hall was renamed Curtiss Hall in honor of Dean Charles F. Curtiss, class of 1887, who was dean of agriculture from 1902 to 1932.

The name of the student newspaper was changed from the Iowa State Student to the Iowa State Daily.

1949

A record album, "Bells of Iowa State," was issued on the 50th anniversary of the Stanton Memorial Carillon.

Class Gifts

No graduation class gifts were recorded for the classes of 1940 to 1946.

On its 50th anniversary, the Class of 1940 raised funds for the renovation of the Campanile and Stanton Memorial Carillon.

The Class of 1941 helped fund the Memorial Union Great Hall renovation in honor of their 50th reunion.

The Class of 1942 also raised funds for the renovation of the Campanile and Stanton Memorial Carillon for their 50th anniversary.

For their 50th anniversary, the Class of 1943 funded the renovation of Gold Star Hall in the Memorial Union.

The Class of 1944 dedicated Reiman Gardens’ east entryway bridge in honor of their 50th anniversary.

The Class of 1945 funded restoration of the conference room in Carrie Chapman Catt Hall for their 50th anniversary.

On its 50th anniversary, the Class of 1946 funded the restoration of the north maiden in Christian Petersen’s Fountain of the Four Seasons.

For their class gift, the Class of 1947 donated Bedford limestone for the Christian Petersen’s sculpture Conversations, located between Oak and Elm Halls.
On its 50th anniversary, the class funded the restoration of the south maiden in Christian Petersen’s Fountain of the Four Seasons.

The Class of 1948 made a part payment for an organ for the Little Chapel in the Memorial Union.
On its 50th anniversary, the class funded the restoration of the west maiden in Christian Petersen’s Fountain of the Four Seasons.

The Class of 1949 gift provided markers for the four entrances to campus.
On its 50th anniversary, the class dedicated the Children’s Garden Entryway, the Corn Crib and the Amphitheater at Reiman Gardens.
