Plans take shape for College of Human Sciences facilities

After extensive study, an exciting plan is taking shape for the future of College of Human Sciences facilities – a vision that will ensure state-of-the-art, accessible space for some of its key departments.

The most dramatic aspect of the plan calls for a new facility to replace LeBaron Hall. The 60-year-old building has realized its usefulness and lacks both the space for the college’s expanding programs and the structure to be retrofitted with modern technology.

One of Iowa State’s iconic central campus buildings, MacKay Hall, will also benefit from the project. With its solid architectural integrity and significance as the historical home of the College of Home Economics, MacKay Hall merits conservation and revitalization for current and future use. Underutilized, out-of-date sections will be updated and enhanced to meet today’s needs.

The result will be an integrated complex that reflects and stimulates the exceptional work of the College of Human Sciences, attracts and inspires outstanding faculty and students, and accommodates the needs and growth of the college for years to come.

The project is being made possible in part by donor support. To learn more, contact Molly Parrott, senior director of development, College of Human Sciences, at mparrott@foundation.iastate.edu or 515.294.7437.red square
