Faculty, Staff Support for Campaign Iowa State Surpasses $30 Million
AMES, Iowa — Faculty and staff support to Campaign Iowa State: With Pride and Purpose has not only demonstrated a deep commitment to Iowa State University and made a significant impact on campus through gifts to hundreds of funds, but has also exceeded two established goals.
As of Sept. 30, 2009, more than 4,100 Iowa State employees, including retired faculty and staff members and staff at the Iowa State University Foundation, have committed and pledged nearly $31 million to Iowa State during Campaign Iowa State.
When Campaign Iowa State was announced in October 2007, the initial goal for faculty/staff support was designated at $25 million but contributions by Iowa State employees and retirees eclipsed that total. A second goal of $28 million was then established and again that mark was surpassed.
"Despite so many challenges with the economy and state budgets, two out of three Iowa State employees are donors to Campaign Iowa State,” said Dan Saftig, president of the ISU Foundation. “This level of broad support from insiders speaks volumes to Iowa State’s many other benefactors.”
Faculty and staff donors to Campaign Iowa State have made commitments to endowed faculty positions and students scholarships, new and renovated facilities, and key campus programs that enrich the campus experience. Faculty and staff gifts have been directed to all academic programs, the library, athletics, Reiman Gardens, the arts and many other campus designations.
This gift is part of Campaign Iowa State: With Pride and Purpose, the university’s $800 million fundraising effort. More than $725 million in gifts and future commitments for facilities and student, faculty and programmatic support have been made to Campaign Iowa State.
