Odds and Ends
Around the World with Cy
The ISU Foundation is asking alumni and friends of Iowa State to celebrate the university by helping Cy become a world traveler. So far Cy has visited Fenway Park in Boston, traveled to Iguazu Falls and hit the slopes in Colorado. You can participate as well. Snap a photo of your stuffed Cy or print a copy of Cy, take his photo in an interesting and unique location and then share Cy’s travels on "Cytings" on the ISU Foundation Web site.
Gary Thompson: All-American
A new book on Cyclone basketball great, "Gary Thompson: All-American," is now available and all proceeds are being donated to Iowa State University.
The book by former Des Moines Register columnist Chuck Offenburger is "about the life and times of one of the state’s greatest sports heroes and all-around good guys." Books are available for direct purchase at several locations including Borders in Ames, Iowa Hall of Pride in downtown Des Moines and Beaverdale Books, Des Moines; and Oskaloosa’s Book Vault.
You can also purchase "Gary Thompson: All-American" through "Our Iowa Magazine" at 1601 Golden Aspen Drive, Suite #109 in Ames (50010). Checks should be made payable to "Our Iowa" for $19.95 per book, plus $3.95 for shipping of one book or $4.95 for two or more books.
