Campaign Boosts Mid-Year Fundraising Totals for Iowa State
66 percent increase since last year

Ames, Iowa—The Iowa State University Foundation reports a 66 percent increase in fundraising only six months into the fiscal year, with $84.3 million in private support from more than 34,000 donors, compared to $50.8 million raised last year at this time.

During the current fiscal year, which began July 1, 2007, Iowa State University publicly launched Campaign Iowa State, providing additional momentum to fundraising efforts to support faculty, students, programs and facilities. To date, $541 million in gifts and commitments have been raised toward the campaign’s $800 million goal.

“Iowa State University is incredibly grateful for this extraordinary show of support from our alumni, friends and corporate partners,” said ISU President Gregory L. Geoffroy. “Their generosity helps provide this university with the critical elements that ultimately advance our mission and keep us ranked as a top institution.”

In addition to a number of significant gifts during the six-month period, student fundraisers who reach out to broad audiences have also established new fundraising records this fiscal year. The ISU Foundation’s PhoneCenter raised more than $2.1 million compared to $1.8 million at the same time last year. These totals also reflect two new student fundraising records in October the one-night total, which now stands at $75,000 and also the one-month total which raised more than $750,000 in gifts. Gifts received through the mail and online are also up with $1.7 million in gifts compared to $1.2 million last year.

“It’s extremely gratifying to see the outpouring of support Iowa State has received since the public launch of the campaign last October,” said ISU Foundation President Dan Saftig. “Iowa State University has an impact on its alumni and friends and that is reflected in the wonderful fundraising success we’re seeing.”

Campaign Iowa State continues through December 2010.
