Finalists Announced for ISU Foundation President

AMES, Iowa –Two finalists have been identified for the position of ISU Foundation president. They are Patricia Borger, vice chancellor, development and alumni relations at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; and Roger Neuhaus, senior vice president for development and university campaigns at the University of Arizona Foundation.

“President Leath and I are extremely pleased with the caliber of the two finalists and look forward to getting better acquainted with them both,” said Marla Franklin, chair of the ISU Foundation Board of Directors.

Candidates will meet with Iowa State University officials and foundation volunteers and staff and will have the opportunity to tour campus and the city of Ames during the first two weeks of November.

Biographical information for the two finalists is included below.

Patricia A. Borger

Patricia Borger joined the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as vice chancellor of development and alumni relations in August 2008. She oversees UWM's efforts to secure private support to benefit the university and is personally active in principal gift fund raising. She leads UWM’s alumni relations programs to help the university’s more than 140,000 living alumni engage with the university and each other. As a member of the chancellor’s cabinet, she serves on the leadership team that advances the finances and mission of the entire institution.

Prior to joining UWM, Patricia was assistant vice president at the University of Cincinnati Foundation, overseeing corporation and foundation relations and gift planning. She chaired the university-wide business engagement task force, charged with establishing and growing UC’s strategic corporate partnerships. She also chaired the foundation’s best practices task force in preparation for UC’s $1 billion Proudly Cincinnati campaign.

She practiced law at Keating, Muething & Klekamp PLL, a 100-plus attorney firm in Cincinnati and was Fifth Third Bank’s planned giving product manager, serving as a technical resource to the Bancorp’s not-for-profit clients.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from the University of Saint Francis (Fort Wayne), a Master of Music degree in Music History from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

Roger J. Neuhaus

Roger Neuhaus was appointed senior vice president for development and university campaigns at the University of Arizona Foundation in May 2008. In his current capacity, he is the senior executive with responsibility for all major gift fundraising as well as capital campaign planning, management and execution for an organization that includes 39 colleges, institutes and centers. He supervises three vice presidents with direction of more than 60 development officers. During his tenure at Arizona, the UA Foundation has reported private gifts, as documented by the Council on Aide to Education, in excess of $600 million, including a record year of $181 million in the year ending June 30, 2012.

Prior to joining the University of Arizona Foundation, Neuhaus served in fund raising executive level positions for approximately 20 years in the Iowa Health System (The Finley Hospital, Dubuque, Iowa), The Northern Arizona Healthcare System (Verde Valley Medical Center), Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, where he also served as assistant director of the alumni association for six years.

Neuhaus is a native Iowan, having grown up in Dubuque. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication from Loras College and a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
